We live just outside city limits and have a well system. We use just a tiny amount of Iron Out each month in our water softener salt bin which has resolved our iron problem. I have saved literally hundreds of dollars at the salon because we no longer have to have our hair stripped of iron!
I am a nurse by profession, and white, professional looking uniforms are a must. Unfortunately the area I live in gets its public water supply from a deep well, and contains a lot of iron. Over time my white uniforms turn yellow, and bleach just makes it worse. I saw your White Brite product at the store and decided to give it a try. To my amazement it took out all of the yellow, and did not affect the embroidered logos on my uniforms. I am so glad I finally found a product that works.
Our well water is FULL of iron. We have a water softening system that takes the iron out of the house water but no outside faucets are connected to it.
In order to fill our pool, we connect a hose to the shower. The softener ran out of salt and we got a horrible iron stain in the bottom of our bathtub. I thought it was hopelessly stained forever, but decided to give IRON OUT a try. It was truly a miracle. The entire huge stain came right out with very little effort. This made a true believer out of me. I LOVE IT and would highly recommend it to anyone with an iron water well.

Iron OutŪ is a product that actually changes rust and iron into a clear solution that easily rinses away. Iron OutŪ can be used on virtually all surfaces and will also brighten and whiten white clothing and fabrics discolored by rust and iron.
Iron OutŪ cleans the mineral bed and removes the iron build-up that can reduce the softening and recharging efficiency of the water softener resin. The product is backwashed from the system after the cleaning is complete and regular drinking water is resumed.
Iron OutŪ may remove manganese stains if use in a higher concentration. Make a paste; apply for 10 minutes and rinse. May be reapplied if necessary.
As for all of our products, it is best to contact the retailer for availability before going to the store for purchase. Visit our WHERE TO BUY page to locate a store near you.
Simply apply Iron OutŪ to a damp sponge and wipe the stained surface or make into a paste and apply directly to the surface. Iron OutŪ Liquid can be used for quick and easy application as well.
To use Iron OutŪ on concrete, add 1 cup of Iron OutŪ to 1 gallon of warm water. Use a firm bristled brush or broom to work product into the concrete. Keep saturated with water and allow product to set until stain is gone. Reapply as needed. A garden sprayer may also be used if necessary. Be sure to keep the surface wet where the Iron OutŪ has been applied to keep the product alive. When you are ready to rinse, avoid vegetation. If the product comes in contact with vegetation, take a garden hose and wet down the areas of vegetation that Iron OutŪ contacted. This will help achieve dilution of the product because the product can harm vegetation.
Iron OutŪ can be added where detergent is usually kept. A good guideline is to use 1/2 cup and do not open the unit mid-cycle. Make sure that you are cleaning an empty dishwasher.
Iron OutŪ can be added directly to the tank, we recommend as a guideline using 1/2 cup before you go to bed and allow it to set overnight. In the morning, flush the toilet a few times to aid in clearing the tank. Iron OutŪ is safe on all Styrofoam liners and seals in the toilet. We actually have sent our product to leading manufacturers for testing.
Iron OutŪ can be added directly to the toilet bowl by adding 1/2 cup and allow the product to set until stains are gone. If youre trying to clean stains from above the water line, make a paste and directly apply. Allow the paste to remain as long as it takes to remove the staining and be sure to scrub the rim of the toilet as well.
Iron OutŪ can work wonders in white clothing, first, be sure to separate any clothing with a dye or color in it from strictly white clothing. ALL COLORED ITEMS MUST BE TESTED FIRST. To use Iron OutŪ with white clothing:
- Add 1/2 cup as the washer if filling (Keep in mind this amount is a general guideline, more or less product can or may need to be utilized.)
- Once washer is full, add clothes and let soak for 5 minutes, if possible by stopping the machine.
- Add detergent and resume wash/rinse cycle. (If more soaking time is desired the washer can be stopped in the wash cycle and then resumed after desired soaking time has been achieved.)
- Dry as usual.
Iron OutŪ can be used to clean dishes. Simply fill a basin size plastic container with warm water and add about 1/3 cup. Allow dishes to soak 5 minutes or as long as it takes to remove stains. Rinse well with soap and water.
To remove the black stains, try using an additional application of Iron OutŪ in a paste form or white vinegar. If the toilet has a cast iron base, the black is from the iron eater sucking the black out.
Iron OutŪ can be use 2 ways in a water softener; both are outlined on the back of each bottle. For the first application method, take 1/2 gallon of cold water and mix 1cup of Iron OutŪ to make a solution. Solution may bubble; use a large enough container when mixing. Be careful of fumes when mixed and always keep in an open container. Pour directly into the salt tank when salt level is low and then manually regenerate water softener or do prior to its regular regeneration. We recommended using Cargill Diamond Crystal Salt. Regenerate water softener twice to ensure complete rinsing of the unit.
The second method for a water softener is called the layering method. This method is used when the salt level is low and the customer wants to use the Iron OutŪ for periodic maintenance. Add 1/4 cup of Iron OutŪ for every 40lb bag of salt and layer. The water softener will then do everything on its own. With this method there is no need to manually regenerate. This method can only be used with separate tank units, not cabinet models.
